summary

When you step onto the Helix Bridge, you will be in awe of its unique shape, vibrant colors and intricate details. The bridge connects the Marina Center on one side to the Marina South area on the other and is designed to look like a DNA double helix structure. Its distance is 280 meters long and 4 meters wide, with a glass fence that provides panoramic views of the surrounding skyline. It's easy to see why it's called the "Bridge of Dreams".

Construction & Design

The Helix Bridge, opened in April 2010, took three years to construct, being designed by Australian architects Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke Pty Ltd. Steel was chosen as its main material because it has good strength and doesn’t corrode easily due to Singapore’s humid weather. The rainbow colored glass panels around the bridge were added for solar lighting effects, known as Blue Moon, giving an alluring illuminated effect for evening strolls across the bridge.

Fun Facts

The Helix Bridge has been featured in several movies and TV shows! Among them are Crazy Rich Asians and Killjoys season 3 episode 1, which makes this bridge even more exciting. If you're ever in Singapore don't forget to check out this beautiful piece of architecture!
