Helix Bridge

When you step onto the Helix Bridge, you will be in awe of its unique shape, vibrant colors and intricate details. The bridge connects the Marina Center on one side to the Marina South area on the other and is designed to look like a DNA double helix structure. Its distance is 280 meters long and 4 meters wide, with a glass fence that provides panoramic views of the surrounding skyline. It's easy to see why it's called the "Bridge of Dreams".

Construction & Design

The Helix Bridge, opened in April 2010, took three years to construct, being designed by Australian architects Daryl Jackson Robin Dyke Pty Ltd. Steel was chosen as its main material because it has good strength and doesn’t corrode easily due to Singapore’s humid weather. The rainbow colored glass panels around the bridge were added for solar lighting effects, known as Blue Moon, giving an alluring illuminated effect for evening strolls across the bridge.

The Helix Bridge stands proud at the famous Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, connecting the old financial district to the newer Entertainment district. The bridge spans a whopping 275 meters, making it one of the most unique structures in Singapore. It’s constructed from five steel ribbons set in an elegant double helix formation, with two opposing paths running over each other at different levels.

You can stroll across the bridge and truly appreciate its design, as it's been designed to provide a fluid and airy look that captures both sunlight and reflections. You can also marvel at the views of Marina Bay, which shine during sunset and nighttime when all lights are on. What’s more remarkable is that you can walk from one side of the bay to the other without having to reach ground level!
